Ainda pode comer o que estava no frigorífico? Saiba quanto tempo aguentam os alimentos após um apagão

 

 

No que toca à comida guardada no congelador, ainda nada está perdido. Quanto aos frescos deixados no frigorífico, passado mais de quatro horas de apagão, já pouco há a fazer. 

O Centro de Controlo e Prevenção de Doenças (CDC),a agência do Departamento de Saúde e Serviços Humanos dos Estados Unidos, explica as condições perante as quais é seguro consumir alimentos frescos e congelados, após um corte de eletricidade. 

4 horas no frigorífico, 24 horas no congelador 

Antes de tudo, saiba que aquilo que não deve fazer, por nada, nesta altura: abrir as portas do frigorífico e do congelador. Isso só fará com que a temperatura arrefeça e os alimentos se estraguem mais depressa. Por isso, a primeira recomendação é deixar as portas fechadas. 

Quanto ao tempo de validade das refeições guardadas: se mantiver as portas fechadas, a comida que está no frigorífico deverá aguentar até 4 horas. 

Uma alternativa, passadas estas quatro horas sem energia elétrica, pode ser colocar a comida que estava no frigorífico numa geladeira com gelo lá dentro, para ajudar a mantê-la numa temperatura abaixo dos 4ºC. 

Já os alimentos que estão no congelador deverão aguentar durante 24 horas, se ele estiver meio vazio, e até 48 horas, se estiver totalmente cheio. 

O que fazer após o corte de eletricidade? 

A recomendação do Centro de Controlo e Prevenção de Doenças é clara: se os alimentos frescos estiveram mais de quatro horas sem serem refrigerados, devem ser deitados fora. Falamos, por exemplo, de carne, peixe, vegetais, fruta cortada, ovos e leite. 

Qualquer alimento que esteja com um cheiro, cor ou textura diferente do normal deve ser descartado. E se está a pensar experimentar a comida primeiro, para ver se ainda está em boas condições, não corra o risco. Na dúvida, deite-a fora, dizem os especialistas. 

E como prevenção? 

É normal temer uma nova situação de corte de eletricidade e os efeitos que pode ter. Mas saiba que há coisas que pode fazer para tentar maximizar o tempo que os alimentos duram, perante um novo apagão. 

Em primeiro lugar, deve regular a temperatura do frigorífico, para que esteja em cerca de 4ºC. Já a do congelador deve estar regulada para pelo menos -18ºC. 

Em segundo lugar, deve guardar no frigorífico e no congelador recipientes com gelo, para ajudar a manter a temperatura baixa. 

Finalmente, é útil manter em casa geladeiras, para onde possa transferir os alimentos, no caso de a energia elétrica ser cortada.
